Switching Sides! (Crossing Over?)
I often say, “Every day a bill doesn’t make progress is a day it’s closer to death.” Monday is “Crossover Day.” Bills passed by the Senate head to the House and vice versa. If a bill has not been approved by its chamber of origin by then, there are additional hurdles that make it tougher to pass. With just 26 days left in the legislative session, I am committed to helping get key bills across the finish line.
In addition to the normal frenzy surrounding crossover, we’re facing the looming threat of a federal government shutdown. The reckless policies of the “Trump/Musk” Administration have already wreaked havoc; as Senate President Ferguson recently pointed out, Maryland is the state most affected by federal budget cuts and the firing of federal workers. While we’re working to pass laws that move us forward, they’re dismantling the country and significantly adding to our budget challenges. |
