Four Hundred Forty Six!

January 4, 2024

Dear Friend:

I hope you are having a happy and healthy start to 2024! The new year is a time for self-reflection and growth, and I wish you all the best.
The 446th legislative session is right around the corner. Next Wednesday at noon, I will join my colleagues as the 90-day legislative session begins. This will be my 10th year in the Senate, working on behalf of the residents of Gaithersburg, Rockville, and all Marylanders.

I have pre-filed nine bills on issues such as public safety, elections, consumer protection, and the environment. Check out my bills and others on the General Assembly website, which will be continuously updated.

Interested in learning about what we will be working on this session? Join our District 17 Zoom Town Hall meeting on Wednesday, January 17 at 7:00 pm. Reserve your place today. I look forward to seeing you there!
I am delighted to introduce my talented team. Justin Butler, an attorney, is my Chief of Staff. I “stole” him from the Maryland Democratic Party, where he was the statewide Organizing Director. Rachel Robin is my Legislative & Communications Coordinator; she recently graduated from College Park with degrees in Government & Politics and Communication. Legislative Intern Jordyn Loring will graduate from UMD with a Psychology degree in May.

Rachel Robin, Sen. Cheryl Kagan, Justin Butler, and Jordyn Loring take a quick break from preparing for session!

PS: I hope you’ll consider joining us this Sunday for a Bethesda event to support my dear friend, former Virginia House Speaker Eileen Filler-Corn. Her race for Congress is critically important if Democrats hope to regain the majority on Capitol Hill!
